This device is a type of switching regulator, also known as a switched-mode power supply or DC-to-DC converter, and it boasts a typical efficiency range of 80% to 95%. The regulator can handle input currents up to 5 A, making it suitable for applications requiring significant power conversion.

This regulator features integrated protections, including reverse-voltage protection, over-current protection, thermal shutdown, and an under-voltage lockout that activates when the input voltage falls below 2.5 V. The ENABLE pin allows the device to enter a low-power state, reducing quiescent current to approximately 20 µA per volt on VIN.
